As we started our summer quarter of classes, I awoke to an quote of the day in my email. This was so relevant to us going back into the classroom and encouraging students to do and be the best they can be. Once you read it, you will understand why it was right on time. But isn't that the way God works?
"If you treat an individual as if he were what he ought to be and could be, he will become what he ought to be and could be."
~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
I needed this!! Sometimes, trying to encourage a student that talking to friends in the hall is not the most important thing is difficult! I had a student tonight take 20 minutes to get water from the fountain which is 10 feet away from the classroom. He forgot I could see him out of the 6 foot window that allows us to see all the way down the hall, talking to his friends with an assignment due at the end of class. Sigh.... it is what it is.
Stay positive everyone!!!!
